CSR

Sustainable thinking, responsible production.

Werknemer

At HIS Houtindustrie, corporate social responsibility is central to everything we do. Sustainability is not a separate ambition but a structural part of our business operations. With our own energy plant, solar panels and an efficiently organised production process, we work every day to keep our ecological footprint as small as possible.

Sustainable business in our company culture

Integrated step by step

Our sustainable way of working has gradually become embedded in the organisation. By continuously investing in improvements, sustainable thinking has become a natural part of our company culture.

We believe in openness and transparency and are happy to show customers and visitors how we work. During a tour of our various departments, it becomes visible how sustainability is applied in practice.

Bio-Energy Plant Schijndel

From wood residue to energy

Since 1997, HIS Houtindustrie has been energy-independent thanks to the Bio-Energy Plant Schijndel. The use of fossil fuels has thereby been kept to a minimum. The plant has now clocked more than 200,000 operating hours.

The wood residues from our machining are carefully separated. Brown wood dust, reduced cut-off residues and wooden packaging are used for energy generation. White dust is used for applications in animal care.

This way nothing is lost and a sustainable production cycle is created. This makes our approach exceptional within the Netherlands.

Solar panels

Local generation of green electricity

We have several warehouses with favourably oriented roofs, on which 4,860 solar panels have been installed since September 2016. Together they generate around 1,229,000 kWh of sustainable electricity per year.

Efficient production without waste

Maximum use of raw materials

Waste has no place in our way of working. That is why the entire production process takes place on a single site, limiting unnecessary transport. We also have our own grinding centre to produce models efficiently.

Residual materials such as paper, foil, steel, cardboard and plastics are collected separately and reused. We combine disposal with delivery trips, so that logistics are as efficient as possible.
